About Us

Ngonzi Women Initiative is a community-driven women’s empowerment program founded on lived experience and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by women in rural Uganda. Rooted in Kyegegwa District, our initiative uplifts women by providing training, livelihood support, and sustainable agricultural solutions.

We were inspired by a simple truth:
Women hold communities together — and when given the right tools, they can transform their households and shape the future.

Community-led programs where women support and learn from one another

Our Story

picture3

Raised by strong women and shaped by the realities many Ugandan women face, our founder dreamed of creating opportunities that break cycles of poverty. The dream was big — sustainable farming and dairy development — but we began with what we had: chickens.

What started with 12 women, each receiving 20 chicks, has grown into a model of hope. Through training, feed support, chicken coops, and veterinary guidance, women have built thriving poultry micro-enterprises that nourish their families and generate income.

Our Approach

  • Community-led programs where women support and learn from one another

  • Agricultural training for poultry and dairy development

  • Family-inclusive support, involving husbands in building coops and heavy lifting

  • Veterinary care and ongoing mentorship from professionals like Dr. Alituha Isaac

  • Savings, business skills, and income generation for lasting independence

Vision

A future where women are economically empowered, families are food secure, and communities thrive across generations.

Mission

To empower women through sustainable livelihood projects, practical training, and community partnerships that create long-term social and economic impact.
